by Akshay Mirchandani

Although all pet owners have understood that treats are the best way to get your pet listen to you and also that it makes training them easier, there is still a constant emphasis on fresh, whole ingredients. So why not replace these treats with nutritious food alternatives? Here are some that can be fed to your feline friends.

  • Banana

Bananas are one of the safest fruits to feed your little feline ones. They are high in potassium and fiber, sweet and easy for the cats to chew. It is important to make sure that they are not given too much, as they really don’t need the sugar that’s in fruit, but a little here and there shouldn’t be a problem.

  • Watermelons

High on antioxidants and various other vitamins and minerals, melons are best served freshly sliced and without the rind. Cats are sure to enjoy the sweetness and cutting the fruit into smaller pieces will help the little one to chew on it comfortably.

  • Spinach

Spinach is one of the best leafy greens available to humans and pets alike. Full of vitamins A, C and K, spinach is also packed with calcium and iron. It is best to cook the spinach, steam it and serve it to cats as an unseasoned healthy snack. There might be some who just may just not like the taste of spinach but for those who do, they are bound to have many health benefits.

  • Blueberries

Blueberries are extremely high in antioxidants as well as vitamins A and C, making them a very healthy and tasty snack for cats.

  • Pumpkin

Surprisingly, plain, unsweetened cooked pumpkin can help with both diarrhea and constipation in cats. It can be given as plain canned, puréed pumpkin or fresh, cooked pumpkin.

With these fruits and veggies in your cat’s diet, your little feline is sure to lead a healthy life with a boosted immunity level.
